This project provides secure and appropriate long term storage for the Museums’ collections of ship models and a permanent exhibition of the collection and touring exhibition space. These are housed within the historic fabric of No.1 Smithery at Chatham Historic Dockyard, providing a sustainable future for the building which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, Grade 2* listed and on English Heritage Buildings at Risk register.
