New Entrance, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London
The new main entrance for Guy's Hospital will improve the experience of patients by dealing with both the adverse local micro climate and the increase in footfall as a result of the closure of the hospital entry from London Bridge Station in association with the adjacent 'Shard' development. A full width projecting canopy protects new revolving doors, which are designed to minimise draughts into the reception area at the same time as accommodating up to 11,000 passes per day. The designs also provide an additional dedicated entrance for Patient Transport Services. The new entrance has been successfully constructed around the existing entrance whilst it remained in full use.
Completion: June 2010
Client: Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital
