De Montfort University, Pollhill Library, Bedford

The Library building is the first implementation of a masterplan for the long-term redevelopment of De Montfort's Polhill campus. The location and striking design of the building provides a gateway to the campus, signalling the establishment of the University in Bedford. The building is naturally ventilated, and benefits from good use of natural daylight. The internal environment is controlled by a building management system as a part of its low-energy strategy.
